All Heroes Wanted

Posted by asiadmin - September 16th, 2014

The documentary Waiting for Superman was a big wake up call for many. The documentary pointed its cameras towards America’s failing public school system and brought to light the dismal educational conditions our children are in. Here’s a statistic for you: 68% of 4th grade public school students scored below a proficient reading level in 2009.

While these facts may have been a wake up call for some, it wasn’t for me. A lifelong educator, I’ve spent over 30 years on the front line and I’ve seen the ways we are failing our children. I’ve dedicated my life to realizing my dream of seeing every child from every community receive the educational opportunities that will set them on the road to success. It’s a dream that I am honored to be in pursuit of, but its fulfillment requires all of our efforts. The old proverb is true, “It takes a village to raise a child.” With the release of my new book, Are You In A Pickle? and with the start of this website I invite you to be apart of that village. We need you. Our children need you.
